Folder Synchronize Version 2.5 Syntax Changes

Users of Folder Synchronize version prior to v 2.5 are aware that two forms of script syntax are understood by the program. We previously referred to these as 'Original Folder Synchronize syntax' and 'Directory Toolkit syntax'. The history is that the 'Directory Toolkit syntax' was added by the popular request of customers who also had our Directory Toolkit utility and who also wanted to be able to use the same scripts with either product.

Unfortunately, presenting two different script syntax forms is very confusing for new users. We are therefore moving the program to a single syntax based on the 'Directory Toolkit' style. We hope this will be easier for all in the long run.

We are aware that many customers are using the original Folder Synchronize syntax style. You do not need to convert your scripts!! Version 2.5 supports all script commands in the original style.

A file listing the original syntax, including the switches below, is included with the Folder Synchronize distribution. See the file 'FoldSyncSyntax_Original.sfs' (text file).

The standard we are moving to is outlined in the Script Syntax topic and the file, 'FoldSyncSyntax.sfs', which is included with the Folder Synchronize distribution. This is the style supported by the Folder Synchronize Script Editor.

Several switches in the original style are not yet supported in the newer style. The table below lists those switches. If you need to use any of those functions with version 2.5 you must use the style outlined in 'FoldSyncSyntax_Original.sfs'.

The Folder Synchronize Script Editor only supports the newer style. If you need to use any of the functions below you must create and edit your scripts by hand. Write support@funduc.com if you need assistance.

Thank you for bearing with us while we make this transition.
